Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight has recently joined a list of Indiana mayors seeking to deny citizens of their cities, and all Hoosiers, the ability to defend the institution of family and marriage. Goodnightâs reasoning was as flawed as any of them, regurgitating the lie that protecting family from the radicals who want to undo it will somehow harm job growth in the state. Goodnight also attempted a completely inconsistent argument that the issue was not worth wasting time on. If that were the case, why is a mayor who wields absolutely no constitutional authority over the issue wasting his time signing petitions and issuing press releases about it? But the most concerning thing, as Peter Heck pointed out, is that Mayor Goodnight is invoking the name of the city of Kokomo in his anti-Christian, anti-moral law crusade. That is not just poor leadership. Itâs contemptible.
